Design Box Architects are formed in March 2016.
Lefteris Martakis & Angeliki Lo, both graduates of Architectural Engineering Faculty of Democritus University of Thrace are its members.
Having common architectural motives and incentives, they decide to unite their creative powers after years of independent, individual activity.
Their common target is the evolution of architectural design, emphasis on originality and detail as well as the perfection in construction.
Lefteris Martakis
Lefteris Martakis was born and raised in Chios. He studied architecture in the Democritus University of Thrace excelling in his field and graduating first in his class with honours. Since 2009 he set up his own private office and he has been working since then as a freelance architect. He is mainly occupied with interior design of residences, offices, department stores and shops as well as designing new buildings. In 2008 he took part in “The Architecture of Fortification in the Aegean & the Medieval Settlement of Anavatos of Chios”, an international conference, with his presentation. Since 2013, he is a member of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks of Greece as a Project Engineer. In 2014 he participated in the Hellenic Architectural Ideas Competition with the subject “Sheltered area of taxi drivers and passengers in Chios town”. From February 2016 since December 2019 he has been a member of the Architectural Committee of Chios Regional Unit. |
Angeliki Lo
Angeliki Lo was born and raised in the island of Chios, Greece. She graduated with her Masterʼs Degree in Architectural Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace, in 2006. Since then she has gained extensive experience in the field of architecture and construction, through working in architectural and engineering companies in Athens. Also she works until today as an external collaborator of the Bank Eurobank, in the Department of Technical Inspection. In her work she was involved in all levels of the design, construction and project execution process, in several typologies of projects including, retail stores, office spaces, supermarkets, rehabilitation centers, hotels, private residences, large-scale private summer residencies on islands, residential complexes at traditional settlements, building permits, three-dimensional visualization, interior and furniture design. She has also received the winning prize in two national design competitions. First one for the Building of the Hellenic post office ELTA - New Automated Sorting Centre of Attica (in the year 2006) and secondly for the Design template store and shop in shop of FORTHNET company (in the year of 2007). Between the years 2014 and 2016, she was a consulting architectural engineer in the management and site supervision for the Centre for Rehabilitation -Theseus of the Euromedica Group in Syggrou Avenue, Athens. Upon the projectʼs completion she moved to Chios island where she established her own architectural office and is now working with private clients in Chios and Athens, while her collaboration with the Department of Technical Inspection of Eurobank still continues. |
